1. Overview

You can permanently delete your Cyclone account and the data associated with it. This page explains how to delete your account, what we remove, and what to expect afterward.

Account deletion is permanent. Once your account is deleted, we cannot restore your account, your saved links, or any related content. We do not keep backups of deleted account data.

2. How to delete your account

In the app (recommended)

If you use Cyclone on iOS, Android, or the browser extension, you can delete your account directly in the app:

1. Open Settings
2. Go to the Account tab
3. In Danger zone, tap Delete account
4. Confirm when prompted

Deletion runs immediately on our servers. The app also clears your local library cache and signs you out.

By email

If you use Cyclone only on the desktop app, or prefer not to use in-app deletion, email cyclone-links@proton.me from the address tied to your Cyclone account and ask us to delete your account.

To help us verify and process your request quickly, include:

• The email address you use to sign in to Cyclone
• A clear statement that you want your account and associated data permanently deleted
• (Optional) The platforms where you use Cyclone — browser extension, iOS, Android, or desktop — if you want to confirm local data has been cleared on your devices

We may reply to confirm your identity before deleting the account.

3. What we delete

When your account is deleted, we remove from our primary systems:

• Your account profile and authentication record
• All saved links, collections, tags, and notes in your library
• Page summaries and search embeddings generated for your saved links
• Synced copies of your library data stored on our servers

Preview images stored in object storage may take additional time to be purged from our infrastructure after the database records are removed.

4. Local data on your devices

Mobile (iOS / Android): When you delete your account in the app, Cyclone clears the local library cache on that device and signs you out.

Browser extension and desktop: When you delete your account in the extension, Cyclone clears the local library cache and signs you out. On desktop, sign out and clear app data after server-side deletion if needed.

5. What is not recoverable

Deletion is definite and irreversible:

• We do not maintain restorable backups of deleted accounts or saved links
• We cannot merge a deleted account with a new one or recover individual links afterward
• If you create a new account later, it starts empty with no connection to your previous library

Provider-side logs (for example, authentication or infrastructure logs) may be retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting before they rotate out automatically. Those logs are not a backup of your library and cannot be used to restore your content.

6. How long deletion takes

In-app deletion (mobile and extension): Immediate. Your account and synced library data are removed from our primary systems as soon as you confirm deletion in Settings.

Email requests: We aim to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days. You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been removed from our primary systems.

If we cannot verify an email request — for example, if the email does not match your account — we will reply with what we need to proceed.
